I just thought I would mention this film after the recent ebay auction for that fabulous publicity shot. For anyone who hasn't seen it By Whose Hand? was made in 1932 and was considered lost for several years until discovered in the late nineties. Dwight plays a "rat" who has squeeled on his old buddy Delmar and is off to prison. I have included a video of the movie here but there's a good review of it on the IMDB written by Jim Coughlan who cowrote "Dwight Frye's Last Laugh" with Greg Mank.
Can I also point out this is the only time dwight had a screen kiss. Sadly the kiss is a mother-son kiss but still...

This is an amazing film and Dwight's portrayal was amazing as well. It's a definite favorite among his work for me. I do wish that his screen time would have been a bit longer, but his role was substantial all the same, something which we unfortunately do not always see.

Dwight was perfection in this film and as always, he puts his all into his character. Did you notice how lovely his lips look in the closeups? GUHHHH *THUD*

I love this film. I thought the cast was great and some of the dialogue is very funny. It's a really enjoyable movie from start to finish. I thought the part with Chick and his mother was extremely moving. I agree with MM, Dwight was perfection. It's impossible to take your eyes off him, every movement and expression... he's just amazing, as always. Jim's review was great, thanks for letting us know about it Mrs V!

IMHO, I think Dwight was at his most gorgeous about this time. Me thinks I need to dig BWH again...

I agree, he looked incredible. He always did though. Personally, I think he was unbelievably handsome when he got older too... Who killed Gail Preston for example, in that tux! *swoon*
