It still amazes me how many female fans there are on here. I'm like one of seven males. I feel a little intimidated. lol

It still amazes me how many female fans there are on here. I'm like one of seven males. I feel a little intimidated. lol Please don't feel intimidated Months ago, I tried to raise a similar topic as to why so many of Dwight's online fans are female? We know there are plenty of male fans. From what I know about the horror conventions, there seemed to be a significant chunk of male fans, and my fanvids on youtube have more male viewers. I think most members said they liked Dwight because he was good-looking and a family man etc, etc, etc. However I was still mystified as to what made the average fan, watch Dracula (for example) and say "Hmmm, I want to find out more about him." I think, to a modern audience Renfield is a sympathetic character. He is not bad and could have been saved. I think Dwight's performance evokes pity and touches an audience, perhaps a woman more than a man. A lot of Dwight's characters bring out my maternal instincts, and his performance in Dracula was the only one I found touching. Yes Bela did his Bela thing, Edward Van Sloan was effective, everyone else.... we'll not go there but it was Dwight's performance that stayed with me and made me want to explore his other work and latterly by Dwight Frye's Last Laugh.I've gone off on a tangent, apologies. I don't know, perhaps in a fan community where the sole focus is an individual, a man at that, women tend to be more vocal or perhaps tend to explore every single facet of that person and perhaps, just perhaps tend to exaggerate or even focus on the what ifs, the sadness and personal life of Dwight, in great detail. I don't know if men do that in the same way. I don't mean to generalize. I am so glad another male fan has joined. Judging by what you have posted already, you are taking our discussions in a new direction and as much as we all enjoy talking about how gorgeous Dwight is, it can lose momentum quickly.

Hopefully, more male fans will join. It's nice to get their view of Dwight as well !
