This guy has made my summer for the past three years... I don't get out much. www.johnwilsonorchestra.com/Basically the orchestra perform classic from American musicals. This may not sound unique, but Wilson has become renowned for resurrecting the classic musicals scores from the movies and not the original Broadway shows. The scores often differed because a Broadway shows orechestra would be substantially smaller than one used for the cinema, also many tracks and overtures were rewritten for the screen. However the majority of the arrangements were binned once recorded. Believe it or not, some of MGM's greatest musicals had no actual copies of the musical arrangements so they could never be played live. Wilson has painstakingly listened to each track and restored them, so an audience can hear a cleaner version of the vibrant soundtrack that a cinema audience would have heard many years ago. Details of the next concert are here. It's should be live on Radio Three, so if anyone is interested they should be able to tune in online. festival.london2012.com/events/9000966839And here is an example of some of his recordings. That's Entertainment! Yes that is Seth Macfarlane. Oklahoma Overture The Trolley Song

I watched John Wilson's show on Saturaday on BBC2. Sadly it was not as good as his previous shows He focused on some rarer Broadway shows and though the renedition of Ol' Man River and Don't Rain on My Parade were good, some of the songs were totally new to me.
