I just wanted to share this because it's really close to where I live. I saw this cinema on a BBC4 documentary about the Golden Age of Ocean Liners and couldn't believe it when I saw this place because I have passed by it and had no idea what was inside. Sadly the owner doesn't allow members of the public into it which is a great pity because there are a treasure trove of Art Deco pieces. The Rex Cinema opened in 1937 and much of the interior was taken from the German cruise ship Homeric. Within this building there is not only a wealth of Art Deco Cinema architecture, but some maritime history. Rumour has it that Jack Warner was supposed to visit the place. Why he would have been in the rural, industrial Scottish town of Stonehouse is beyond me? billward.eu/cinema_stonehouse/index_cinema.htmlwww.scottishcinemas.org.uk/scotland/stonehouse/index.html

This is great stuff. The panoramas are fascinating. I'm reminded of Hopper's 1939 painting "New York Movie":

I know that painting well, my parents have a copy of it in their lounge. It has always fascinated me. Thanks for posting.

For me, Hopper is one of the greatest of American artists.
