I'm a bit disappointed because there's a rare Film memorabilia on today and I'm not able to go But I just thought I would start this thread on our favourite movie posters because that's what I always seem to search through and end up buying. It amazes me that a film can be awful but the advertising poster can be a work of art in it's own right.

However, one of my favorite posters was associated with a film that was anything but awful: "It happened one night". I love the original poster, with the romanticized image of Gable and Colbert on the moon. Subsequent posters for the film could never top this image.

That's a beautiful poster Luna. I love Gable and Colbert on the moon, that's so adorable and couldn't be done today without being cheesy. Here are a few of mine that I like: I love the caption for The 39 Steps, lol. The Man who put the Man into roMANce And I like the next two because they are very typical of the era's they are set in though not the decade they were actually made.

"Sunset Blvd" has long been a favorite of mine, and I agree fully concerning "The 39 steps". That is a great poster and that tag line is so kitsch- it probably wasn't intended to be, but it comes across that way and I love it:)

I think Metropolis might be my favorite movie poster of all time.

I might be wrong but I am pretty sure I read that one version of the Metropolis poster is the most sought after and certainly one of the most expensive.

It is an amazing poster. German expressionism at it's finest.

That is an amazing film, another example of great German expressionism. I love that look and feel on film, it's an art that has been lost today and it adds so much atmosphere to mystery and horror films.
