February 14th. will mark the eighty year anniversary of the release of "Dracula" starring Bela Lugosi and of course Dwight Frye. I have a tribute video made and waiting to be posted for the occassion, but I was curious to know if anyone had heard anything at all about Universal marking the anniversary? I've been searching on-line but so far I haven't turned anything up.
Honestly, outside of re-releasing the film again I am not sure what else they could or would do, but if they do nothing I will be a bit surprised. The film is quite old now, so perhaps they feel that the interest just isn't there, but it is legendary all the same and I cannot believe that they would allow the anniversary to pass un-noticed.

I haven't heard anything but then I probably wouldn't. I know Universal made a big deal when it was 75 years so they might not Someone living close to UNiversal Studios might know.

That is true- the 75th. was big. I can understand marking that date as well, but you would think that 80 years would be even more significant. They probably aren't doing anything, as I said I searched on-line and turned up nothing, but I'm still hoping they will do something to mark the day.

We could always criss our fingers and hope that Universal release never before seen photos of Dracula behind the scenes... or deleted scenes.... or the Premiere complete with Dwight in tux... I can keep dreaming!

Those are amazing and wonderful ideas! I wish that you were in charge of this department at Universal *LOL*! I am certain that they must have some unreleased photos at the very least lying about somewhere that they could share in order to honor this important anniversary!
