I bought the Dwight Frye card set back in the 1990's, and at that time there was an offer to have Dwight D. Frye autograph a card. He also enclosed a form letter (two autographs for the price of one!) when sending the card back. Here it is, in all it's glory.... Attachments:

I remember you got to choose which card, and that's the one I picked. At the time By Whose Hand? was sadly lost and it seemed like it would be that way forever. I never thought I'd get a chance to see it. So that's why I chose that one, if that even makes sense. (Plus it's just a super hot photo of Dwight.)
Dwight D. was so into the horror resurgence in the late 90's when his dad started gaining more popularity. I am so grateful I had a chance to get something like this before he passed on. I know that's the same letter he sent to everyone that requested this, but you can really hear the sincerity. He wasn't just trying to make a buck, he really did want to do this for people because they cared about his dad.

This is amazing Leah. I've never read the letter and I have to say good photot choice to get signed. I am happy that Dwight D. took s much pleasure from his Dad's popularity, as with us all I just wish Dwight Snr was around to see it.

I like to think Dwight somehow knows about his new popularity, but I also wish he'd lived to an old age and got to appreciate it. I'm glad at least Laura started to hear about his growing popularity shortly before he died, and that Dwight D. got to participate so much in it.

It was so sweet of Dwight David to care so much about his dad's fans and to want to share in their love and honor for him. I agree that he seemed to really care and to want to do something special for those who appreciated his dad's hard work.

Imagine this: Dwight and Laura, along with Buddy, at a Dwight appreciation convention. Having lived to a ripe old age, Dwight finds it almost surreal meeting the countless fans who have come from near and far to meet him and his family, and to show their love and respect. Dwight is amazed as he talks, signs autographs and poses for pictures (while getting a lot of hugs and kisses). Laura is by his side, also happily meeting fans, and is filled with love and pride for her husband. Later, Dwight is asked to give a speech. Overcome with emotion, he greets the crowd and gives heartfelt words of gratitude and love for all his fans, thankful that they remember him and his work after so many years. As Laura listens, she wipes away a tear. She knows first hand how hard he worked at his art, and how deserving he is of this moment as she looks at her husband with love. Buddy watches Dwight, feeling proud of his dad, and happy that he got the chance to see such appreciation. As the convention comes to a close, the fans embrace Dwight once more before seeing him, Laura and Buddy off. They hug the trio, giving them kisses (Dwight walks away with more than a fair share of lipstick prints ), and sees them off in a limo while yelling "WE LOVE YOU DWIGHT!" . Dwight looks through an open window and, with tear-filled eyes, waves back and yells "I LOVE YOU TOO!" How wonderful it would have been had this actually taken place.
