Great article. Thanks. (I can well imagine Peter getting married with the fake scar on his head.)

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this charming description and couldn't stop smiling. It was a nice surprise to see Connie mentioned too. Thank you so much for sharing this little gem, Mrs V.

Excellent, thank you for the link. I'm forever grateful to Hitchcock that he allowed Peter to be funny in Secret Agent (perhaps to the detriment of the film itself), because here even more than in I Was An Adventuress, we get a glimpse of his comedic genius. He makes something out of every - single - minute of screen time he has. It's like a masterclass in acting. I so wish he could have done more

The same goes for Peter in Arsenic and Old Lace. The first time I watched it, when I was 17, I had a definite idea of how Dr Einstein should be played, as I had seen a production at the Citizen's Theatre in Glasgow and the role of Dr Einstein was very Dr Strangelove-esque and it kind of worked in my mind. Then I saw Peter's performance and was blown away. This was when the soft spot for Peter was formed and I could never see him as menacing or creepy.
