I wouldn't describe Peter's character in "Engineers in Ingolstadt" as a sex maniac, just a conventionally horny teenaged virgin. plus I would definitely quibble with his characterization of Ugarte, Joel Cairo and Gino as "obsequious toad"s! Harrumph.

I get sick of the "toad" comments. Speaking of Engineers Of Ingolstadt, I was wondering does anyone knows if an English version of the text exists. I've looked on amazon and ebay and tried to google it to no avail. I would really like to read it.

There's a 1970 film version directed by Fassbinder. That would have the English subtitles. (I don't really know the play, so I don't know how much RWF's version differs from the original. Writing credit is given to both Fassbinder and Marieluise Fleisser (who wrote the original play), so there has to be some connection.)

Thanks Woofy. Never been sure what the actual name is in English. I would type the German title, but I'm scared of making spelling errors. I have seen the Fassbinder DVD, I just really enjoy reading the texts. I'm surprised it's not available in English, with the Brecht connection I thought a few Theatre students would be interested.

I don't know how good your German is, but the original is available in the Manchester (UK) series: ISBN 978-0719034688.
