Thanks for sharing this Violet. I remembered reading that the song became a minor hit in the UK because Terry Wogan played it as a request and then it was repeatedly requested. Eight years later on the iconic British radio show Desert Island Discs Wogan actually had "When the Lighthouse Shines Across The Bay" as one of his choices. Sadly, I think he chose it in a feeble attempt to be funny, but the show is available to listen to on: www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/p009mfmz

I really love Dark Journey. I have it on DVD but I was wondering, how are you able to watch YouTube videos on your TV?? I am clueless when it comes to modern technology. I hope you enjoy the film! Thank you for posting the Terry Wogan link. It was interesting to hear him talk about Connie. My mum used to listen to his radio show all the time and I remember watching his TV show when I was little.

I watch youtube via the TV through his XBOX 360. Hubby says there are various other ways to do this though, you could even link a laptop to it. Now you also get these Smart TV's that are linked to the internet and have a youtube app built into them. I'm not that technical so I have to be shown these things, myself.

Wondered if anyone this side of the pond is watching Horror Europa with Mark Gatiss on BBC4, there was quite a bit about Veidt's silent performances.

I know it's a little late now but Happy Birthday Connie! I just wanted to share this absolutely gorgeous tribute video that was made for Connie's 120th birthday. It was created by the lady who runs this amazing website - conradveidt.wordpress.com. What a remarkable man.

This is one of my favourite Conrad Veidt films. It's a British film from 1935 called The Passing of the Third Floor Back. Connie often portrayed heartless monsters in his films (A.K.A. Nazis) but in this film his character has incredible warmth. Connie plays The Stranger, a new resident in a London boarding house. Many of the other residents, some of whom are pretty unpleasant characters, have problems and 'the stranger' helps each of them individually. This charming performance demonstrates just how versatile an actor Connie was. Anyway, it's a lovely little film which unfortunately is quite hard to find. I just thought I'd post it here in case anyone was interested.
