Who else here likes Nosferatu? To me, it's one of the most, chilling, creepy and nightmarish films ever!

I agree. I love Nosferatu and it is more frightening than a lot of horrors that came along later. It's the only silent film my husband can sit all the way through and is a MUST SEE for us at Halloween.

I haven't seen the remake of it yet from 1979. It looks faithful to the original though, down to Klaus Kinski looking like Max Schreck.

One of the movies responsible for me being the horror freak that I am today. I love this movie, one of my all time favorites.

Have you seen Werner Herzog's 1979 version with Klaus Kinski? It's well worth the effort. Different from the silent version, but terrifying in its own way.
I would also recommend the film Shadow of the Vampire (2000) which concerns the making of the original Nosferatu. It stars John Malkovich as Murnau and Willem Dafoe as Max Schreck. It's very creepy, but a must for fans of the Murnau films.

I haven't seen the 1979 remake, but have seen the Shadow of the Vampire. Willem Dafoe was incredible as Max Schreck. Very spooky movie.

I have never seen the 1979 remake though I did have the Art Nouveau poster for it as a teen for some reason. I have seen a few of Herzog's films and though I find his work fascinating, I do find it a little hard going sometimes. The Enigma of Kasper Hauser being the one that immediately springs to mind.
I have seen Shadow of Vampire a few times now and though I have grown more fond of it and think Willem Defoe gives a fantastic performance.

Hmm, I don't think I've seen either of those. I;ll have to give them a shot.
