I was watching an interview with Mark Gatiss the other day and I was reminded of his fantastic documentary series about Horror movies.
The first one dealt with Universal Horror, the second was Hammer and the third was the 1970's American Slashers.
I just posted the first part here. There is not much that we didn't know before but it is still an affectionate, enjoyable look at a great period of cinema.

I love this series, I have them all recorded. Mark Gatiss is wonderful and his obvious passion for the subject made the documentaries even more enjoyable. The first episode is my favourite. I always get goosebumps when I see Lon Chaney's actual make-up kit, what a genius. It features lots of Dwight's scenes too ;D. This series is a must-see for horror fans and film history enthusiasts. Brilliant post Mrs V!
I always enjoy watching interviews with Carla Laemmle, she's such a beautiful and charming lady. The Road to Dracula documentary she hosted was fabulous.

Thank you so much for posting this Mrs. V. I've never seen it before. I loved the Lon Chaney Sr segment too. It would be so incredible to go to Universal and see the Phantom set. Imagine if Lon put in an appearance!!! I didn't know about Bela doing the Dracula tour in England in the fifties.
