Great movie with Peter Lorre as the star from 1931. What's really scary is that it was pretty much a precursor of crimes today given that Lorre was a child predator in the film. As always, a great performance by him, but also a great performance by the rest of the cast. I don't know if the topic of the film was actually an issue at that time in Germany, I'd like to think not, or if the cast was just that well prepped. Regardless a great movie, both scary and sad.

Excellent choice Endo! Obviously I can't fault Peter, though I'm not sure if it's my absolute favourite of his films. The crimes of Peter Kurten were very recent when "M" was released though Fritz Lang always denied that Kurten was an influence and I believe the film was made well before the trial, though I'm not sure about dates etc. There are probably people on here that are more qualified and can do a better job of discussing M than I can, so I'll just keep to this.

Well, it was a very good movie that resonated with my wife and I. I always loved Lorre, but I had only seen him in his horror/comedy pairings with Price in movies like The Raven and Tales of Terror. Seeing him in this role was shocking, to say the least.
