I have read this book. It focuses primarily on Peter's films and gives details about the plots. It also gives some character analysis of Peter's roles. It is written in an affectionate tone and there are some nice anecdotes and lots of gorgeous photos. I do agree with the writer that Crime and Punishment was without a doubt one of Peter's greatest performances. I've always been a big fan of the novel and I adored Peter in the role of Raskolnikov. A section dedicated to Peter's radio work is also included. Unfortunately, yes, there are a few inaccuracies but the part I was most disappointed about was that many of Peter's films were missing. There are chapters dedicated to most of his films, all of the big ones are covered, but a lot of my favourite films of his from the thirties weren't discussed. This is not a criticism at all as these films have still not been officially released and their absence is entirely understandable but I guess I was hoping there might have been a little bit of a discussion or even a few photos... a girl can dream.
It is a great book and a wonderful addition to the collection of any Peter Lorre fan.

Thanks Violet. It's good to hear a positive review. I think my misgivings was partially down to the fact I never recieved the first one I bought and didn't get a refund either And I also heard the inaccuracies were bad, but then after reading the Shipman article nothing could be THAT bad. I have to say I do like the cover! I think I'll have to start saving.

Gosh, you didn't even get a refund, that's awful! I worry about that happening as I purchase so much online. I must say I was very surprised by the Shipman article as he's such a highly revered writer. I like the cover too.
